Once activated, simply choose which of your appointment types you want to trigger consent requests for in Healthengine’s Practice Admin.
After the appointment, your practice processes an invoice with a ‘Bill To: Medicare Direct Bill’ in Best Practice.
An SMS is automatically triggered to the patient asking them to assign the Medicare benefit to the health practitioner who provided the services via a digital form.
If your patient does not have a mobile number on file, the digital form is automatically resent via email.
The patient will verify their identity with three approved patient identifiers in compliance with RACGP standards, then proceeds to complete the form online.
Once completed, the patient is prompted to download a copy of the form for their personal records.
The completed form will automatically attach to the patient’s file in your Best Practice PMS.
You follow your standard process of completing a DB4 form and for manually submitted claims write ‘Written email agreement provided’ and submit to Services Australia for payment.

No. There are no additional fees to use Bulk Billed Telehealth Consent as it is one of the many products and features already included in Healthengine’s GP Complete subscription. GP Complete has combined what was previously our PES Plus and Patient Connect subscriptions, with additional features included.

Patient consent to the Medicare assignment of benefits must be obtained after the relevant services have been provided in full.
Yes, Medicare requires the collection of patient consent for every appointment where bulk billing occurs.
If a patient verbalises during your Telehealth appointment, or contacts you afterwards to advise that they don’t want to verify themselves and approve the assigning of Medicare benefits, the patient is usually responsible for paying the full cost of the appointment.
