Fact #1 – To book at your practice, patients first need to be able to find your practice
Online directories of local services are the modern equivalent of the Yellow Pages. When it comes to booking a doctor, three quarters of smartphone users turn to Google. HealthEngine has invested in building Australia’s most comprehensive online healthcare directory, with the driving purpose of making it easier for patients to access the care they need.
With over 5,000 practices listed, and over 1.5 million visitors searching our website each month, HealthEngine is firmly established as Australia’s most trusted brand when it comes to connecting patients with doctors, dentists and more.
This solid traffic means your practice is able to benefit from strong Google search engine rankings. HealthEngine is a Google Premier Partner and as such we provide full AdWords services to ensure your practice gets noticed online. Our practice listings also include full contact details, from phone number to parking availability – it’s the one-stop shop for people to find, book or contact your practice.
To avoid spending time and money handing out costly flyers or letterbox drops that largely go unread, it makes sense to list with Australia’s most visited healthcare directory.

Fact #2 – We do not actively send your patients to other practices
Our CEO, Dr Marcus Tan, is a practising GP and fully understands the importance of continuity of care.
In August 2017, over 700,000 bookings were made on the HealthEngine platform. Less than 14% of these were patients booking at a new practice they hadn’t visited before.
That’s over 600,000 patients continuing to book at their existing, preferred practice.
The primary reason patients choose to leave their practice is because it doesn’t offer online appointments.
HealthEngine’s products support practices in engaging with their existing customers. By enabling practices to provide the convenience of online booking, friendly appointment reminders, and timely recall messages, we help you create an ongoing ecosystem with your patient to encourage them to continue visiting your practice.
Plus, patients have the ability to favourite their regular practice, meaning your practice details are front and centre when they visit the HealthEngine site or use the app.
Fact #3 – We help your patients to find you, even if your practice isn’t with HealthEngine
Even if a practice isn’t with us we still look to facilitate patients to their preferred practice via our comprehensive listing of healthcare providers across Australia.
In August 2017, our website had over 40,000 phone number click reveals for practices not paying for our service. In addition, we sent out around 2,500 email notifications to practices who do not list appointments, indicating that a patient had made an enquiry wanting to attend their clinic. We even found a fax machine to send this information to clinics with no email!
Fact #4 – The new patients we send to your clinic book more than once
The average HealthEngine patient books at the same practice 4.3 times per year. This is higher than recent ABS statistics which indicate most Australians visit a GP two to three times per year.
90% of HealthEngine patients have only ever booked at the same practice, highlighting our ability to help drive patient loyalty.
