Collection Statement
This Collection Statement describes how HealthEngine collects and handles personal and sensitive information when you use our pre-vaccination screening service. This notice is provided pursuant to Australian Privacy Principle 5.
Online pre-vaccination screening
HealthEngine collects and uses your personal information and sensitive information (including health information) to provide online booking services to you, to facilitate appointments with medical practices, healthcare practices, pharmacies and other organised or incorporated bodies that provide health services (Health Professionals), and to communicate with you about these appointments.
Why we collect your booking information
HealthEngine collects your personal and sensitive information to provide you with our online pre-vaccination screening service, and for other purposes which are authorised or required by law.
If you choose to use our online pre-vaccination screening service, HealthEngine collects your first name, appointment date, appointment time, information about your health, and whether you are of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background for the purposes of assisting your Health Professional to make decisions about vaccinating you.
The primary reason HealthEngine uses your personal information is to provide the services you have elected to receive.
HealthEngine may also use your personal information for de-identified data analytics to help us improve the pre-vaccination screening service, and our users’ experience, including by monitoring aggregate metrics such as total number of visitors, traffic, and demographic patterns.
Who do we disclose your booking information to
We will disclose your personal information to your Health Professional and their practice for the purpose of facilitating the administration of your vaccine.
We may disclose your personal information to third party service providers who support our business activities (such as IT and software service providers, security entities that minimise risks and block suspicious behaviour such as Google reCAPTCHA, and our professional advisers such as lawyers and auditors). We require our third party service providers to agree to appropriate privacy restrictions, and only permit them to access personal information to the extent needed to provide goods or services to us. We may also disclose your personal information where authorised or required by law. We may also disclose de-identified information of our users to third parties for analysis and quality assurance purposes.
We do not disclose your personal information to overseas recipients.
Deletion of sensitive information
Where we collect sensitive information (including health information) through the pre-vaccination screening service, we will destroy that information 14 days after your scheduled appointment.
If you do not want us to collect your personal information
You are under no obligation to provide us with your personal information or sensitive information, and you can continue to use other features of the HealthEngine Network without doing so. However, if you choose not to provide your personal information or sensitive information to HealthEngine, we will not be able to provide you with our online pre-vaccination screening service.
